Welcome to This Chicken Hurts Me—a lighthearted name with a funny backstory. It was born on one of our family trips when our oldest son, still little at the time, was served a slightly neglected (ok, maybe dangerously neglected) piece of chicken from his Uncle’s crockpot. When his dad noticed he wasn’t eating and inquired, our son looked up with big teary eyes and said, “Daddy, this chicken hurts me.” 

We’ve been laughing about it ever since. Now, the phrase reminds us that travel is all about the unexpected moments that always seem to make the best memories.  This site is all about exploring the places we love—starting with our own backyard in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and stretching far beyond.
